Good Afternoon! How was your weekend? Mine was filled with lots of time in the saddle! 🙂 Friday was really nice but I didn’t get in any saddle time because I took Braxton to the Rodeo in Goldson, Nc. We ended up going with a friend and her two kids and we all had a blast. He’s only been wanting to go because he wanted to try riding the mechanical bull. So as soon as we got there that was the first thing we had to do, LOL. He rode pretty well too. Of course, the controller didn’t go fast or make it turn a lot but he still stayed in the middle and held on a good while.
Next, we all decided to try our hand at roping. Let’s just say I won’t quit my day job and start doing that. I am not very good at it and need lots of practice. Charly (my friend) and I had a roping race and loser had to ride the bull. Guess who lost!?!? Me!!! I rode it like a pro though. I stayed on 25 or 30 secs and it was cranked up a little bit. That guy was definitely trying to get me to fall. After all that fun time was over we sat down to watch the real bull riders buck some bulls and cowgirls turn some barrels.
Saturday I had shavings delivered and I sold some hay to a friend that my horses couldn’t eat. After getting all that done I decided to saddle up and ride for a little bit. I just worked Spur in the ring for a good 30 minutes trying to get him to come out of his stiffness. A few weeks back, he got hurt and was really sore/lame. Since the lamesness has gone away he still seems very stiff when riding. The longer I worked him the better he seemed but I’m still a little concerned that he is still stiff this long.
Saturday Afternoon/Evening, Tory, Braxton, and myself met Charly and her family for bowling then Japanese. That was a ton of fun! I actually bowled half way decent. My first game was only a 90 but my second got better and I scored a little over 100. Yes, I know I suck but hey normally my scores are much much worse!
Sunday the high was 68 and I wanted to take advantage of the warmness so I went to a friends roping pen. Now I don’t rope as you learned earlier but I LOVE to track the cows. Maybe one of these days I’ll get someone to teach me how to rope. It does look like a lot of fun..although I’m not very coordinated so I’m a little afraid of losing some fingers, LOL.
Sorry for the lack of pictures! I completely forgot to take any this weekend. 🙁
How was your weekend? What fun activities did you get into?
