Hey! How was your weekend?!
I concurred one of my biggest fears this weekend! Let me first say I’m petrified of heights. I don’t climb up high on ladders, I don’t look over cliffs, I don’t go out on balconies. Just.Can’t.Do.It.
I don’t know what came over me but this weekend but I just had to try the High Ropes Course at Kersey Valley! It was so much fun too! I was to scared at first to go up high, so I started on the “easy” level, i.e. kiddie course. The obstacles are a little easier then the medium level and it’s lower to the ground.
I thought we would get a little more instruction to begin with but we didn’t. The guides basically hooked us in and said go. It was up to each person to figure out how to get through the course and to snap and unsnap yourself at each pole.
The beginner level really wasn’t that bad. It wasn’t so high up that I got nervous and the obstacles were stable. The way it works is you start on one side and go around the course until your back to where you started. No where on the course can you get off. Your basically on it until the end, once you start.
A few minutes in my confidence started building and I was able to move right along. The beginner level took me about 45 minutes to complete. After I finished it, I was ready to give the next level a try.
The medium level was a bit more challenging because some of the obstacles would swing, some obstacles you had to crawl through and some were just plan hard. I will say though, the medium level was by far the best. I zipped through it with no problems and in less time then the first level. I wish I would have stopped and took more pictures along the way so I could have shared them though. womp womp 🙁
I absolutely had a ball doing this. I’m so glad I didn’t let my fear get the best of me and signed up for the challenge. Not only was it an awesome workout but it also felt so great to get through it. I would highly recommend doing a high ropes course if you never have!! I will definitely be going back and next time will start at the medium level and go up to the hard level.
There was 6 of us in the group and after all of us had finished the course, we went over to the rock wall. This was my first time ever climbing it and boy was it challenging and much more scary. I climbed as high as I could and then couldn’t reach the next “rock” so I had to stop. To get down you just let go and push back and keep yourself from hitting the wall. This part was the worst part..I did not want to let go and just fall. I mean what if something happened and I just fell and nothing stopped me. It took me a minute to work up the nerve but I finally let go and pushed off a little. I quickly started to drop but then the rope caught and slowed me down. At that point, it wasn’t so bad. I think I would definilely try that again but it wasn’t near as much fun as the course.
Lastly, we did the escape room. This was super fun too. We did the autopsy escape room and basically what happens is your put into a locked room and have 60 minutes to find all the clues and get out. If you get out you win. If you don’t, you lose. Unfortunately, kersey valley doesn’t allow any photos of this in order to keep their secrets from getting out. But if you live close by then you should go do it and see for yourself how fun it is or find one in your area.
So Tell Me..
Have you ever done a High Ropes Course? What about an escape room?
