My Kitties and Doggie are Growing Up

I can’t believe my little kitties turned 7 weeks old today. It seems like it was just yesterday that they were little babies just learning to walk. Now they are running, jumping, pouncing and acting so silly.

 

I love watching them play and have lately been called the “crazy cat” lady by all my friends. I’m starting to think I’ve lost it too. I’ve bought them so many toys lately. The most recent purchase was the Cat Tower you see them laying on in the picture. Since they love jumping on things and want to dig their sharp little nails into EVERYTHING, I went out and bought them this. It’s hilarious to watch them take running leaps and grab hold of it. They also love this little feather wand that I bought. They will chase it forever. I swear I don’t think anything could tire them out. I’ve gone in their room at 10pm hoping they would cuddle with me again, but nope, they just want to play. I sure do miss those cuddling days too.

Luckily, I have Whiskey who wants to cuddle more then I do. This boy thinks he’s the same size as the cats and still likes to sit in my lap to be rubbed on or when I’m trying to sleep he has to be in the bed right beside me. Every morning I wake up to his head on top of me staring at me with big eyes that I imagine are telling me to get up and let him out.

Just look at that face! He’s so silly. I can’t believe I’ve had him for a year now. It’s amazing just how much he’s grown up and changed. It took some time too but I finally think he’s settled in and feels like he belongs. He doesn’t try to run off now when I let him outside the fence to play. Although, he still has a lot to learn about not running after the horses. The anxiety he had when I first brought him home is all gone now too. The only thing I wish I could help him with is how hot he stays. He is ALWAYS panting and I know he’s hot because he’ll lay on the air vents. I’ve read and been told by my vet not to shave him because the undercoat helps to keep him cool..I swear I don’t think it is….I’m not a vet thought, so I’ll do what they say. My first Golden never stayed this hot and heck we lived in FL. Do you know anyone with a Golden or have one yourself that stays hot like him? What do you do to keep him/her cool?

One more question – Who has kitties or cats and what have you found that they love to play with the most? I’m thinking the next toy I buy, probably this weekend ;), will be one of those wind up mouse toys so that they can chase it and pounce on it. Surely they would love that and of course I’ll get plenty of laughs watching them. 🙂
