I Quit My Day Job to Run My Own Business

Good Morning! It’s 8:05 am on a Monday morning and I’m sitting here drinking my coffee trying to figure out how to tell you about my latest life changing event. Ahh heck…

I QUIT MY JOB!! I’m officially self-employed!

This was one of the toughest and S-C-A-R-I-E-S-T decisions I’ve made in a long time. Not to mention, it’s well overdue. I should have quit my job years ago but I let fear keep me from doing it.

WHY I QUIT MY JOB & WHAT I’LL DO NOW

Since I know you’re wondering, I did not quit to sit at home and do nothing. I am taking over as COO for the business my husband and I have. We started this business years ago and always kept it as a side gig. In the past few years, we finally realized we have a chance to grow this company and make it into something bigger than it is now but we can’t do it, if one of us doesn’t focus on it full time. Since I have a business degree and experience in the business world, it made the most sense for me to quit my job.

Of course, the fact that I’d been miserable the last 2 years at my job made it an easy decision for me to want to leave. Plus the hubs LOVES his job and only works 10 days a month (as a fireman), so he can keep his position at the Fire House and still have time for the business too. BTW, our business is Supreme Renovations LLC and we do Windows, Siding and Roofing. (Shameless plug there! ha)

I’ll be honest, it still feels a little weird to know I don’t have to do work for my old employer. Right now it feels like I’m on vacation and that I’ll have to go back soon. I don’t know how long that feeling will last, but I hope not too long. I’ve got my list of things I need to get done for our business but they are going to have to wait a few days. I need time to clear my head and recharge. My old job sucked the life right out of me. One of these days I do want to right a post on it because I do want to share my story and provide a little motivation to other ladies who might be experiencing the same thing. I want to give hope to others so they won’t spend years of their life in a job that is going no where.

For now though, I’m off to go enjoy my ponies and get a good ride in. Riding is something I haven’t done much this year and it’s time for that to change.

One more thing before I go, I started this blog with the intentions of keeping it all about horses. I knew here and there I would share life updates but I never planned to make it a blog about my life. However, I do have a desire to document this new journey I’m on and talk about the struggles of being an entrepreneur. I most definitely will still be sharing many horse related things and don’t plan to abandon that topic at all. If anything, I hope now I’ll have more to share about horses. 🙂

So Tell Me…

What big life changing decisions have you made lately?
